My design principles and who I am as a designer
I thrive in fast-paced, diverse environments both professionally and personally, from immigrating at 13 years old to working as a designer in an early-stage startup and a capstone project with 10 engineers. I can handle product design, user research, design systems, and user testing, and I adapt easily to different roles and team needs.
I bring joy to UX when appropriate, using delightful interactions to create thoughtful and fun moments to boost user engagement and trust.
Product-led growth plays a key role in aligning business strategy with user experience. My approach centers on using design to boost business results and improve user engagement.
Knowing who to go to for support, having thoughtful idea exchanges, and having a mutual understanding of the collective vision is crucial for success.
My engineering background gives me the intuition of technical understanding, and understanding how constraints and feasibility plays into design solutions.
The experiences and skills that allow me to have unique perspectives
Being neurodivergent and having many neurodivergent friends, I developed a passion for designing for accessibility and inclusivity for different mental modes and thinking processes.
Before realizing that I wanted to be a product designer, I'd always been drawn to design through art, architecture, and industrial design, and have taken various courses and completed personal projects to explore these interests.
Studying engineering has allowed me to be trained in systematic and analytical thinking.
Thinking with the big picture in mind while paying attention to the details is my specialty.
I've always been drawn to learning different languages and cultures. I'm currently learning Korean and German, and it's my dream to travel and practice my language skills.
I've been learning French for around 10 years, and I love learning about the Francophone history, cultures, and languages.
I lived in Taiwan until I was 13 years old, and I'm fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Some of my favorite things to do in Taiwan are eating and looking for the perfect cafe to relax or do work in.

In my second year of college, I joined SB Creative Lab as a web and graphic designer. Without prominent HCI or design programs at UCSB, the club became a creative refuge where I discovered my passion for user experience (UX) design. A pivotal moment came during a UX project, where I realized design extended beyond visuals—it was about solving real user problems. After participating in a Designathon in 2022 and winning second place, I knew UX/product design was a career path I wanted to pursue.

In 2022, I gained my first professional UX experience at PoolUp where I learned to balance design with business goals and stakeholder expectations. Over time, I became co-director of SB Creative Lab, leading workshops and giving back to the design community. In my final year, I led the UX design for my capstone project where I navigated the challenges of designing a digital interface for a physical fire-prevention device. Our team won first place in multidisciplinary engineering, and this solidified my desire to continue in product design.

The Creative Act: A Way of Being
I cook and bake when I’m inspired by a specific flavor. The funny thing is, if I feel like I have to cook, I end up not wanting to cook at all. Weird right? I'm also prompted to learn whatever interesting thing that comes my way, especially skills that involve languages or crafts, and more often than not at the expense of my wallet. (I once spent $300 on new tools just to build a book case 🤓)
